Many of us are in classrooms that do not yet have HD connections to our projectors or TVs. In my case, all the classrooms in the school are equipped with a ceiling mounted projector that shows the tv cable shows with the click of one button, and the connected computer with the click of another button but has a VGA cable as the input to the projector.. What if you want to show your Sony Xperia tablet on a projector and the only cable you have is a VGA cable?
Well, there are actually two other simple methods you can use to connect your tablet if you are willing to buy one more piece of equipment, or see if your tech department already has it.
Method 1
Here is what you need:
1. The multi-port to HDMI connector for the Xperia tablet
2. An HDMI cable

3. An HDMI to VGA converter box
4. The VGA cable connecting to your projector - helpful to have the standard audio cable from the box to the projector or amplifier too.
First, plug the multi port adaptor into the tablet.
Second, plug one end of the HDMI cable into the adapter coming out of the tablet.
Third, plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the converter box.
Fourth, plug the power into the converter box.
Fifth, plug the VGA cable (and audio cable if needed) from the projector, or wall in some classrooms, into the converter box.
Make sure that the source on the projector is set to computer or VGA 1 depending on your particular configuration, and then your screen from your tablet should appear on the projector screen.
This is great when trying to introduce a lesson the students may be doing in a center on the tablet etc. All the students can see it before they have their turn in the center, or if they all have their own tablet, they can follow along as you demonstrate something to them.
Sony's Education Ambassadors volunteer their time and knowledge to Sony in the pursuit of helping educators adapt to new technology in the classroom. Each SEA member was provided a Sony Xperia™ Tablet to evaluate, to help them better understand the device’s features.
